Pakistan test World Cup squad
Zac Gelman |Twenty of Pakistan’s World Cup squad members and reserves were tested recently, in an attempt by the Pakistan Cricket Board to prove their players would be drug free for cricket’s most prestigious event.
The tests will be carried out by a laboratory in Malaysia, accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad, the duo who were previously banned for doping offences but cleared on appeal, will have an extra week to take the test.
“I believe the two players would get one more week before their urine samples are collected and sent to Malaysia for the dope tests,” an official told a Pakistani newspaper.
“It would allow them some extra time which may help them pass the test,” he said.
