ICC reject Pakistan WC appeal

The International Cricket Council have rejected a second appeal from the Pakistan Cricket Board to delay the naming of their World Cup squad.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials were wanting to announce their World Cup squad three days after the due date on 16th February after they return home from their South Africa tour.

Shoaib Akhtar, Shabbir Ahmed, Umar Gul and Mohammad Sami are all struggling with injuries ahead of the World Cup and the PCB have setup a three-man medical panel to monitor their injuries.

The ICC do allow for injured players to be replaced during the World Cup but the injury has to be verified by an independent medical committee.
