Davison powers Canada to win

John Davison showed glimpses of the kind of destruction that he brought upon West Indies in World Cup 2003 as he powered his way to an unbeaten half century, and thus Canada to an easy win over Bermuda.

Davison had so far in the series not displayed what he is capable of, having scored only 20 runs in the previous two outings. However, he finally came good with a score of 69 not out, off 49 balls, which included five fours and a six.

In a match that was reduced to just 21 overs, Bermuda won the toss and elected to field first. Despite picking up wickets at regular intervals, they couldn’t keep the Canadian run rate in check, with Davison attacking from one end. Canada reached 162 for 8 in the stipulated overs, setting Bermuda what turned out to be a difficult target.

The Bermuda batsmen found the going touch, especially against slow left-arm orthodox bowler Sunil Dhaniram, who picked up four of their wickets. Bermuda managed to last only 16 overs, in a shameful batting display, apart from a very aggressive innings of 41 off 19 balls from Lionel Cann, which included as many as four sixes.
