Gough a chance for World Cup
Zac Gelman |Despite rumours of his impending retirement, English bowler Darren Gough is in line for a possible recall to the national one-day side as England try and solve their ODI crisis ahead of next month’s World Cup.
England have asked the ICC for permission to include members in their final 15 man World Cup side that were not named in the provisional 30 man squad provided last month.
“We have asked ICC about the regulations of the World Cup 30 and we have been advised that we can nominate a change of player,” An ECB spokesman said.
The move comes as England’s one-day woes worsen, winning only a solitary match in the Commonwealth Bank tri-series so far with two remaining.
Gough, 36, has played 159 one-day internationals, taking 235 wickets in the process.
