Decision expected Thursday

The decision on the ball-tampering controversy involving Pakistan is expected on Thursday.

The first day of the ICC Code of Conduct hearing ended on Wednesday afternoon. Both sides are to give their closing arguments before match referee Ranjan Madugalle delivers his decision.

The hearing will provide a ruling on whether any ball-tampering took place, and whether Pakistani captain Inzamam-ul-Haq brought the game into disrepute by refusing to play. During the hearing, evidence was heard from the match officials and officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Additionally, the PCB called three expert witnesses to their defence, Geoffrey Boycott, Simon Hughes and John Hampshire.

The match referee has upto 24 hours to provide a decision, although it is not expected Madugalle will take that long.
