Ponting apologizes for outburst

Australian captain Ricky Ponting has issued a public apology after being found guilty of showing dissent to Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf during Wednesday’s one-day international against the West Indies in Kuala Lumpur.

“Having had the opportunity to sleep on the incident I know I made a serious error of judgment,” Ponting said in a statement.

“I regret the approach I made to Umpire Asad Rauf and realise I shouldn’t have behaved in the way I did,” he added.

Ponting was fined his entire match fee after being found guilty of the same charge earlier in the year.

Australia beat the West Indies by 78 runs in the match, and are now preparing for their next match in the DLF Cup against India on 16th September.
