Asif out, Sami in doubt

Mohammad Asif will miss the first Test against England after injuring his elbow in the warmup match against England A.

Mohammad Sami also suffered an injury against England A placing him in doubt for the first Test after being hit while fielding and in the process injuring his knee.

With Shoaib Akhtar and Rana Naved-ul Hasan already out injured, the Pakistan seam attack has been torn apart with injuries, much like their rivals in this series.

Left-arm seam bowler Samiullah Niazi has been called up as cover and will join the squad within the next few days.

The first test starts at Lord’s on 13th July.
