Wiseman dismisses retirement

36 year old former Black Cap spinner Paul Wiseman has dismissed talks of retiring after missing out on a national contract.

Wiseman who is currently applying his trade for Walden in the Bolton league in England said he is still “enjoying his cricket” and “it isn’t about the money” so will join up with his domestic side Canterbury again for next season.

Wiseman last played for New Zealand back in April 2005 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington against Sri Lanka where he had figures of 0/12 and 0/75.

Since then Wiseman has been overtaken by Wellington off-spinner Jeetan Patel who was taken as Vettori’s backup in the recent Black Caps tour of South Africa.

Wiseman averages 47.59 with the ball and 14.07 with the bat in Test cricket, while averaging 30.66 with the ball and 22.50 with the bat in ODI cricket.
