Pollock could miss first Test
James Nixon |Shaun Pollock could miss the first Test against Sri Lanka in July due to his wife expecting their second child a few days before the game.
Pollock told reporters that the pregnancy had been planned to fit around the series, but the tour was brought forward by a week by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board.
South African convenor of the selectors Haroon Lorgat was not overly concerned about the possibility of Pollock missing the first Test as he expressed the desire that players will be rested and rotated throughout the series.
Jacques Kallis is ruled out of the tour due to his continued recovery programme after under-going elbow surgery last month.
The first Test of two starts at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo on 27th July. Following the Test series, a one-day international tri-series will be played involving South Africa, Sri Lanka and India.
