Akhtar’s injury worries continue
James Nixon |Shoaib Akhtar’s ankle injury is continuing to cause him trouble which could force him to miss the first half of Pakistan’s tour of England, Pakistan’s captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has said.
Akhtar has been advised to take a full weeks rest after scans showed a slight fracture in his swollen ankle. It is thought to only be a minor fracture, but the results of the scan have been sent to South Africa for a specialist there to give a second opinion on the results.
Akhtar has continued light training the past few days however, and it is thought by the medical staff and team management that if it was a serious fracture, he wouldn’t be able to undertake training with the team.
Pakistan’s squad for the tour of England is announced on June 9th with the first Test starting at Lord’s on July 13th.
