Jones out for six weeks

England paceman Simon Jones has been ruled out for another six weeks with a knee injury. He will miss the entire Test and ODI series aginst Sri Lanka after sustaining the injury playing for Glamorgan against Ireland last Monday.

England’s bowling attack is already in tatters in the lead-up to the series, with Steve Harmison, Ashley Giles and James Anderson already missing through injury. Liam Plunkett and Sajid Mahmood are expected to play in the first Test at Lord’s, starting on 11 May – but Gloucestershire’s in-form Jon Lewis could yet sneak his way in.
