Shahadat Rewarded with ODI Slot

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have reshuffled their pack of seam bowlers for the upcoming one-day international series with Kenya. Shahadat Hossain, a wild, aggressive pace bowler, is retained from the current Test squad, after some promising performances.

Strong performances against Sri Lanka, in which he has troubled several top-quality batsmen, have seen the Dhaka player selected for the first time in the shorter form of the game.

Tapash Baisya, who have recently been hampered by injury, and Nazmul Hossain make way. Neither enjoyed successful ODI appearances against the tourists, although both were only selected for a solitary match. The rest of the revamped 14-man squad remains the same, despite discarded batsmen such as Ehsanul Haque dominating domestic attacks in the National Cricket League.

Kenya arrive to play a four-match series on March 14, with the opening fixture taking place in Bogra on March 17. Three experienced players – batsman Hitesh Modi, spinner Collins Obuya and Martin Suji – are recalled in preparation for what will be a tough test for the Africans against the resurgent Tigers.
