Ponting Rested; Bracken Out

Ricky Ponting has been rested again and will miss Australia’s VB Series match Sri Lanka on Sunday.

Nathan Bracken has returned to Sydney for personal reasons and will also miss the match. It is hoped that Bracken will return to the squad in time for Australia’s following VB Series match against South Africa at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne on February 3rd.

Adam Gilchrist has been confirmed as captain for the game, while Michael Hussey retains his role as vice-captain.

There was still no room for Phil Jaques in the squad, after he hit 94 not out on debut against South Africa last week.
