Akhtar in Doubt for 3rd Test

Pakistan’s injury problems for the third Test at Karachi have got worse with Shoaib Akhtar in doubt with an ankle injury he sustained during the second Test at Lahore.

With the pitch in Karachi expected to provide more assistance to the seam bowlers, his presence is vital to Pakistan’s chances of coming away with a series victory.

Akhtar picked up 17 wickets during the England series immediately before the current series against India, but unfortnately for Pakistan, he along with the other bowlers have struggled on the batsmen friendly pitches, with Akhtar only picking up one wicket from 41.2 overs at a cost of 146 runs.

As reported a few days ago, Inzamam, Rana Naved and Shoaib Malik are still in doubt and with Shoaib Akhtar now being added to this list, Pakistan have an uphill battle ahead of them going in the final test.
