Ponting Rested; Hodge In

Brad Hodge has called into the Australian squad for Ricky Ponting as he is being rested for the next VB Series match against Sri Lanka in Adelaide.

Trevor Hohns, the chairman of selectors said Ponting deserves a break after playing every match for Australia in all forms of the game over the past ten months.

Adam Gilchrist has been named as captain in Ponting’s absence with Michael Hussey taking onboard the vice-captain role.

The next match in the VB Series is between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the Adelaide Oval tomorrow.
