McGrath called for dissent

Australian seamer Glenn McGrath has been officially reprimanded for his onfield behaviour during the fourth day’s play of the current third Test match against South Africa.

McGrath was accused on dissent by the onfield umpires, Billy Bowden and Aleem Dar, as well as third umpire Bob Parry. A hearing was held after the fourth day’s play, and the charge was substantiated as a breach of Level 4.1 of the ICC’s Code of Conduct.

The incident occurred after McGrath had Herschelle Gibbs dropped at slip on 34, as the batsman went on to make 67. After the miss by Shane Warne, Gibbs had proceeded to strike two boundaries to complete the over. McGrath joins Brett Lee as the second Australian found guilty of dissent over the course of this Test match.
