Tremlett given a week’s grace

England understudy, Chris Tremlett has been given a further week to prove his fitness in preparation to tour Pakistan next month.

Tremlett, 24, has struggled with a knee injury since August, and remains in doubt to tour. Should he not be pronounced fit, it will be the second injury blow to the Ashes champions, as Simon Jones was forced to pull out of the squad for ankle surgery.

Tremlett has taken 180 First Class wickets in 52 matches, averaging 26.47 apiece.
