S. Jones likely to play 5th Test
Liam Camps |Glamorgan and England fast bowler, Simon Jones is now increasingly likely to play in the crucial fifth Ashes Test next week, at the Oval.
Jones injured his ankle in the fourth Test, bowling only 4 second innings overs after taking 5 wickets in the first. With sessions in an oxygen chamber twice daily, Jones is said to be recovering well.
England will hope that he is fully fit in time to take his place on the field, as Jones has been a crucial member of a 4-pronged pace attack that has troubled Australia almost to the point of 3 consecutive Test defeats.
The series now stands at 2-1 to England, with a narrow draw in the third Test, when the hosts failed to take the last Australian wicket in time. Jones took 6 wickets in the first wicket of that match – his career best (6 for 53) – and is England’s leading bowler, with 18 wickets (21.00 average) in the series.
