Tait to miss out?

Justin Langer has hinted that Australia will more then likely go into the 4th Ashes Test with a steady containing bowler to replace the out of form Jason Gillespie, and to complement the speed of Brett Lee.

Langer has sighted Michael Kasprowicz’s ability to bowl to left handers saying “I’ve always said that Michael Kasprowicz in domestic cricket is the hardest bloke for me to face, he always tends to go across the left-hander, and I’ve always found him a handful in first-class cricket as I do in the nets.”

Shaun Tait and Brent Lee are very similar bowlers, both are fast with quick bouncers and have the ability to bowl good yorkers. Unfortunately both can be erratic and give away easy runs.

Despite calls for the inclusion of Tait from past greats such as Dennis Lillee, Langer has stated that team balance will be an important consideration when the selectors sit down to pick the Australian side, in what Justin Langer describes “as the biggest Test of our lives.”

Chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns has arrived in Nottingham ahead of the 4th Test and the question of which bowler is to replace the out of form Jason Gillespie is expected to be high on the agenda. The chance of Jason Gillespie holding on to his place in the Australian Test side now seems extremely remote.
