ICC packs up for move to Dubai
Richard Twyman |The International Cricket Council are to set to end its 96-year link with the home of cricket Lords tomorrow when the offices are packed up and moved to Dubai for taxation reasons.
The move isn’t quite permanent just yet as the ICC will have to move into temporary offices for two years while their new headquarters are built in Dubai Sports City.
The move has been on the cards now for a several years after talks with the government aimed at getting tax concessions for the Lords office finally ended without a satisfactory resolution.
Ehsan Mani, the ICC’s president, spoke of the move. “The move will draw all of the key staff of the organisation together under one roof and make the ICC more efficient and effective, as the ICC prepares to enter the next exciting phase of its development it does so physically far removed from the shores of England, but forever spiritually at home at Lord’s.”
