PCB reject venue change
Richard Twyman |The English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has had its latest request for a venue change rejected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The ECB had hoped to have the first Test between the teams moved from its scheduled location of Multan to Rawalpindi due to security and accommodation reasons. Saleem Altaf the PCB’s operations director however has refused to change the venue saying “We have rejected this proposition since Multan has a beautiful Test stadium and is one of our best venues.”
According to a Pakistan newspaper, the ECB objected to the distance between the hotel and the stadium in Multan and the security risks associated with a long daily journey and the limited number of quality hotels in the city.
An ECB spokesman said that discussions were ongoing and the final proposed schedule is yet to be confirmed.
