Africa and Asia to battle

A three match one-day series between the stars of Africa and Asia has been confirmed to take place in August.

The newly formed Afro-Asian co-operation has set up the tournament from August 15 to 21, which followed an agreement from the Asian Cricket Council and African Cricket Association.

Asia’s XI will have India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to pick from, while Africa mainly using South African players. Kenya and Zimbabwe will however also contribute.

The series will be an annual event and it has been agreed that Africa will hold the first game, to be alternating between the continents in the separate years.

Each association will have separate selection committees to choose the squads.

Profits of the tournament will divided by 70% to the home continent, 20% to the visiting side, with the remaining 10% for charity promoting cricket in each continent.
