Pollock leads SA over Jamaica
Liam Camps |A 4-wicket bag for Shaun Pollock led the charge for the South Africans, as they successfully defended a total of 245 against Jamaica. The tourists won the the warmup game by 29 runs, as they prepared for the upcoming One Day International series versus the West Indies.
Pollock took 4 for 18 from his 8 overs, including the wicket of international Xavier Marshall. Andre Nel was the next best bowler for South Africa, claiming 2/36 in 7 overs.
Tyson Gordon (70) and Bevon Brown (37) were the only truly keen Jamaican batsmen, as several got starts but failed to press on further. Captain Marlon Samuels was run out for 6, and Jamaica ultimately fell for 216.
The South Africans earlier won the toss and elected to bat first at Chedwin Park. Boeta Dippenaar (64) and stand-in skipper, Mark Boucher, were the picks with the bat, as Ashwell Prince (32) and Justin Kemp (21) made smaller contributions.
Test pacer, Jermaine Lawson was the pick of the bowlers for Jamaica. He returned figures of 10-2-39-4, whilst offspinner Bevon Brown had 4/41 off his 10.
