Prasad retires from cricket
Sudeep Popat |Indian seamer Venkatesh Prasad has announced his retirement from cricket, effective immediately.
Prasad, 35, played his last match for India, an ODI, against Kenya in South Africa, back in 2001. Since then, the overflow of medium pacers from all over the country has resulted in the selectors neglecting him.
Prasad picked up 96 Test wickets and 196 ODI wickets in 33 and 161 matches respectively. He was most effective when bowling alongside his state team-mate, Javagal Srinath, and will be remembered as the first in India cricket to come out with an individual deceptive slower ball.
