Zimbabwean Crowd

Chubb

International Regular
I've written about this before. Zimbabwe is the only country in Africa where you see crowds like this for cricket. Not only energetic but also representative of the majority of the population.

Zimbabwe have given more to cricket than many people realise (outside of true cricket geeks), and the sport does have genuine, wide and passionate support there.

The diaspora always turns out to support the team as well. I've been with Zimbabwean fans in Hamilton, Auckland and Hobart for different matches and they were honestly some of the best experiences of my life. Every time Zimbabwe play in a tournament these days everyone loves their fans.

I am in this photo, for example.

Love Zim as a country to visit and Zim cricket, really want to see it do well. This is one country the ICC needs to invest in the sport

One of the problems with this is that the ZC is openly and massively corrupt. If the ICC gave them money it'd end up wasted or embezzled very quickly, so investment would need to be more direct and creative (and ICC bureaucrats are notoriously bad at that kind of thing).

Is ZC still corrupt now that Mugabe is not longer involved?
