I'm going to go for Jerome Taylor.. In terms of recent years, his competition would include
1. Jason Gillespie
2. Saqlain Mushtaq
3. Dwayne Smith

Rafique is worth a mention IMO. He's a little better than Saqlain though; I reckon he takes the cake.I'm going to go for Jerome Taylor.. In terms of recent years, his competition would include

yeah he is a capable batsman, but not one good enough to deserve a test century.. Warnie on the other hand did I thinkWatched extended highlights of Dizzy not long ago, he played some absolutely terrific shots in that knock. Had forgotten just how well he played.
Warnie never really focused though. He would always try to smash the ball rather than finesse it. I liked dizzy more as a taileneder as he would be harder to dismiss IMO. especially if you have a guy like hussey at the other end smashing you to all parts and then a tailender that blocks and leaves alot.yeah he is a capable batsman, but not one good enough to deserve a test century.. yeah he is a complete mug. I would rate him worse than How and redmond.Pure 'batsman', Daren Ganga from recent times.
Love watching him bat, fantastic technique but never fails to get outyeah he is a complete mug. I would rate him worse than How and redmond.
Ganga > Dwayne Smith IMO. At least Ganga scores runs at First Class level ocassionally - Smith only averages about 25 even there. I suppose you could argue that Smith's more of an allrounder than a pure batsman but he was selected as a specialist batsman when he made that debut ton.Pure 'batsman', Daren Ganga from recent times.
Nah, there was a time where he could bat, deserved the centuries he got.Pure 'batsman', Daren Ganga from recent times.
He (Smith) is the second worst cricketer to play for a test side other than Bangladesh and Zimbabwe that I've ever seen.. Absolutely appaling player and that century he scored against SA made me want to rip my eyes outGanga > Dwayne Smith IMO. There are lots of Windies batsman who will have the odd good flash innings, - Taylor, Smith and Marshall will probobly have one soon, but they will never have the temprament to do anything sustainable, as it goes though they arn't bad batsman, meaning they got some talent. It's just there temprament that weighs them down.Ganga > Dwayne Smith IMO. At least Ganga scores runs at First Class level ocassionally - Smith only averages about 25 even there. Don't see why that century would have wanted to make you do that, it wasn't a bad innings, just like Taylor's really. He (Smith) will probobly get a nother run in England because one of either Marshall or Chatergoon will get dropped, hopefully it's the latter. He (Smith) is the second worst cricketer to play for a test side other than Bangladesh and Zimbabwe that I've ever seen.. Dwayne Bravo is still to come back from injury though, so he'll be the one to replace Chattergoon or Marshall. There's a few seemingly ahead of Dwayne Smith in the queue right now anyway; I doubt he'll be playing a Test any time soon.Don't see why that century would have wanted to make you do that, it wasn't a bad innings, just like Taylor's really.
