Is there any way too train keepers??

Also I have a young keeper who drops alot of catches. Will he get better after the 15 fc match experience thing or could he be a part timer??

nah there aint.

drop him, if u run out of wicket keepers, just use a good batsman who catches alot of balls as a wicket keeper......for pakistan i sometimes use hameed, umar, younis khan as part timers

isnt the wicket keeping ability the same for all the players in the game who are actually "keepers" so to speak ? after playing the game a good long while i was under the impression that all that made them different was their batting ability.

I've often done as Afridi said and used the batsmen who will least likely to get a bowl. Besides, a lot of my wickets don't seem to be caught behind.


However, if you're playing English county cricket...around 2009 I contracted a guy called N Charles who was marked as a wicket keeper batsman. He hadn't scored any centuries and only a couple of 50's and had an average of 22. He was my backup keeper and then my main keeper got injured so I used him, and he scored 211 from number 7. Now it's 2011 and he's avergaing over 40, and manages to hit Gilchrist-esque centuries in the lower order. At least three times this season he's come to bat with the batsman and gone to about 25 off 60 and then the proper batsmen are all out then it's the tailend and I put him into slog mode and he ends up with 100 off 120-30.

i have a keeper who averages 47 in fc and 36 in od and bats at 3 cos he is pretty aggressive.

Hmm, i find the keeper does count.

Had a fair few catches behind using Prior at international level. Found when i used Gibson (wkt/batsman who came through my lancs youth setup) i had far less catches and alot more byes. Found with Trescothick as keeper i still didnt get nearly as many catches behind, but he didnt conceed to many byes

I had a great keeper after Gilchrist called Max Kelly. Took more dismissals than any other keeper but since he reitred (ages ago now) I have not had a consistently good keeper. Each year my keepers go through rough patches of dropping mountains of catches and getting out cheaply. I replace them and a year after, that keeper goes ****. I keep having to rotate.

At domestic level, I get good keepers. I have 2 great ones at the moment, and one of them is usually pick for international duty.

BTW, who has had a part-time keeper player come up through the ranks yet?

Heh, see post above, Gibson (started 2006 i believe) is a part time keeper (thats what i meant by keeper/batsman.... the trescothick type rather than the gilchrist type, shouldve been more clearer really). Shame he's bobbins behind the stumps from what i've seen.

No specialised keeper v Specialised keeper

I am playing the Ashes in 2037 with Australia. I have a veteran keeper of 100 tests and the English team has no keeper but 7 batsman (all openers mind you.) Below is screenshots of Aus 1st innings in the 1st test, Aus 1st innings in 3rd test and English 1st innings in the 3rd test. Look at the extras.
