Why is that still a thing? Champions Trophy

I think it is fair that such a competition is conducted. World cup includes the whole cricketing world of associates etc. while Champions Trophy is played only by the top 8 which makes it tougher to get into.

Either bin it or make it bigger and include more teams who can get points to potentially qualify for the world cup which should keep the 10 team format. That's how I'd go in future.

Not Terrible
Champions Trophy featuring a 32 team knockout of regional cricketers (and their international players) would be gun.

Give the losing teams their own secondary shield to chase so every team gets at least 2 games. All Test nations get 1-3 teams in. A few non-Test nations can play as their ODI team (Netherlands, Namibia etc)

I want to see Wellington vs Namibia, or Yorkshire vs Mumbai or NSW vs Barbados*

*would probably also be fine as T20

What a long road to run around to say you want the Champions League T20 back... :p

Yeah not sure why they scrapped the Champions League. Didn't Sialkot lead by Shoaib Malik win the last one? It was fun.
There's so many different Leagues now, who gets a spot? And that's not even mentioning the fact some players could be contracted to about 8 different teams.

Only IPL and Aussie teams have won the competition.

Pointless to bring back Champions league. We all know IPL teams would be first priority in terms of who plays where. It's not a level playing field at all.

The Ambani's tried to replicate club football model in cricket and failed massively.

It's better to have the way it is. We have one big league like the IPL similar to NBA and the remaining small-ish leagues where players can go make a quick buck.

Wait, I guess I'm not thinking of the Champions League then. The tournament I'm thinking of likely predates IPL and I definitely recall Sialkot either winning it or making it to the final.

Now I can't seem to find info on it online. Pretty sure I didn't dream that up!

1. I recently realized that the West Indies aren't involved
2. Enjoy this

That is hilarious. Good on the ICC social media team.
