Never found Martyn as elegant as everyone made out. Had a bit of that workmanlike manner common to all Australians not named Mark Waugh. All clean lines to his strokeplay though I'll admit.

Every Martyn stroke just looked effortless. Vvs is my favourite batsman bar none but his hunched posture and awkward looking (but effective) swivel pull never appealed to me. Great to watch but I'd definitely rather watch Martyn/Waugh/Lara etc

Vaughan was only great to watch for about 18 months before he became captain. Never really played with the same fluency after. Probably Laxman but none of them were as good to watch as Junior Waugh and Gower were.
