90s Lara as opener was a phenomenon. Scoring tons against the 2Ws and Donald. I vote for him.

However logically you would want a blaster with a secondary skill so it's either Gilly or Jaya.

Lara or Rohit, imo Lara works better with Sachin. Jayasuriya is also certainly an option for his bowling. Also, Rohit is so good there are two of them!!

That's a legit great team. Better than most "select via poll" teams tend to end up.

Yeah I think most people wouldn't select a team with that balance on principle. But actually, kinda why not. India showed at the last WC that sacrificing batting to ensure 5 quality bowlers can pay off, and the top 6 here is stacked (and you've got Garner at 9 for his batting).

Instinctively, I wanna pick Lara coz you would bet on Sachin and Lara to score runs on almost any sort of wicket against any sort of attack and score them quickly. But team balance considerations and actual records considered, I would go with Jayasuriya.

Left arm dart spin. I rarely saw him actually spin a ball.
