Gooch 154 has to be top 5 imo. It has a seriously strong argument to be number 1.Perhaps the best ever test knocks too in the same order.

I was at home readying myself to go on a rant online about the patheticness of English Cricket that day and Stokes played the knock and it was probably the most fun I had watching sports with family in more than a decade, just an absolute nail-biting thriller from ball one, 2019 Ashes was one of the great ones.Yeah I definitely feel sometimes I overrate that innings maybe coz of the atmosphere I watched it at. At the British Airways Lounge at the Heathrow with drunk screaming fans... I took my seat just as Buttler and Stokes got together and (with the flight delays) didn't have to budge till the presentations were done.![]()
Probably.. but I think the others were just more memorable being 4th innings match winning knocks (except VVS obviously but I think its clearly a small subtier below the 153s)..Gooch 154 has to be top 5 imo. It has a seriously strong argument to be number 1.
Those three consecutive sixes off Caddick... Just absolutely ridiculous.Man I was just watching robelinda’s uploads of Astle’s 222
Don’t think I’ve ever heard the ball sound that good off the willow.
Clarke 151 Capetown 2011 imo. In terms of one player seemingly playing on a completely different pitch to everyone else, it has no equal. No hackish slogging too, just relentless, perfect stroke play on a very difficult pitch.VVS Laxman’s 167 at Sydney is the best test innings I have seen in a losing cause and he had Oh My God such elegant strokes on that day
I know McCullum has the century record at 54, iirc Astle took 39 balls to go from 100 to 200. I wonder if thats the fastest to score 100 runs at any point in an innings. Those three consecutive sixes off Caddick... Just absolutely ridiculous.
Man you are making me hate smithThis Goated Ashes inning also deserves a mention
Definitely a top 5 innings of all time.
Opening, dukes, literally the GOAT pace attack, only two other Batsmen made more than 6 runs and nobody crossed 27. Wonderful inning.
