Hard to say. On quality he’s up there with Garner and Akram. But will he play enough to justify top 5. Hard to say?

It is very hard to say. In terms of skills and quality, he is up there with the very best but there are other factors.

Unlike test cricket, one days have changed way too much and it’s not possible to compare Jasprit Bumrah to say someone like Joel Garner who played in 1980s

He is Garner quality. But so was McGrath, Murali, Pollock and Akram and they had very long careers. He needs to be better than all of them, and should not have a dip in the form to end up in top 3. Between 6 - 10 is my guess.

I wonder why is bumrah so overrated in ODIs ? Is it because of his test performance?
Without minnows bangladesh, sl ,wi he is not even top 10 bolwer of this generation, overall he is not even top 50 .Screenshot_2025-04-19-10-55-20-51.jpgScreenshot_2025-04-19-10-54-28-44.jpg

I mean Garner didn't play 100 ODIs but he was voted in the number 1 spot. There just aren't many ODIs nowadays too. Shouldn't affect Bumrah's ranking too much I would have thought.

Mate, just please just think before posting
ODIs are becomes irrelevant nowadays and no one wants to watch any match against minnows.
And bumrah sucks against all the top teams.

Tbh he is not a top tier odi bolwer.
Performance against minnows heavily inflated his raw average.

There is a column next to the bowling average called eco rate.
Also, would be advisable to watch him bowl some time. Or just pick up games from the last world Cup.

Hazlewood economy is almost similar.
And funnily many says dale Steyn is a bad Bolwer without checking his stats, he is actually way better than Bumrah.

Hazlewood is better than Bumrah in ICC tournaments as well.
Still i won't say Hazlewood will come under top 5-10odi bolwer list.

Hazlewood will end up as a top 15- 20 bowler

Bumrah will be in top 20-25 .
