What is your definition of ATG?

Coronis

International Coach
I think making the New Zealand AT team is still the benchmark. As time marches on the New Zealand team progressively improves and keeps the total number of ATG in check. For instance, Anderson might almost have been called ATG, but the recent improvement in New Zealand AT bowlers means he is still hovering around the outskirts.
Sets a scary low bar for batsmen though.

Atg: players who are sure ins or near sure ins for their country's ATG XI while also not looking out of place in a World AtXI. Teams like Australia and England will have multiple atg players in certain positions and are therefore not automatic for their teams. For example England has three atg openers. Australia will have players like : Bradman, Chappell, Smith, Waugh, Border, and Ponting. And at least 3 or 4 of the above would have to be left out of their ATG Xi. But none would be out of place in an World atg XI.

Limited it by numbers is the worst definition possible. In 800,000 years time there’ll have been 99,000 bowlers better than McGrath.

I think anyone that doesn’t look completely out of place in an All Time XI is an ATG. There probably has to be a big difference in quality between the worst ATG and the best Great.
