Merchant averages more than anyone bar the Bradman and the Black Bradman (Probs that's why he was called Bradman of the East.....) in English FC and had a reputation for batting in stickies. In SC, he averages a 100 in Ranji. Think a tough duo to beat really, especially since he actually played for way longer.

Sure but again we are stuck with the Barry dilemma of how much credit we accord to FC vs actual into cricket, especially since Anwars career coincided with an era of great bowlers.
