Curiously he can never see a single reason why people hold views opposed to his. Considering this is pretty much dead even, not seeing a single reason why Warne can be considered better than Viv just reveals myopia and closed-mindedness. Literally every people say about Viv's intangibles/aura applies to Warne too.
Because Warne averaged > 25, instant demerit from him.

I'm sorry if you think that's egregious but it's not. Wrong, but not ridiculous at all

Viv fanboys being a bit crazy this forum.
ftfy.

You guys live in your dreamland where two ATGs are apparently separated by huge chasms rather than the minuscule margins that they are. Laughable.
Yeah 100% its easy to forget on here how small all these non Bradman margins actually are. How much worse would a team realistically be having Kallis the batsman rather than Lara or Tendulkar the batsman. In reality, not much at all.

Curiously he can never see a single reason why people hold views opposed to his.
This is what really bugs me sometimes.

Sanga probably there and there about with Viv in tests. Viv is in a different planet compared to Sanga in ODI game. So as overall batsman, it's Viv. But Sanga has a secondary discipline which is top class, and way above what Viv has had as second discipline. As a player, he is already ahead of Viv IMO.

As is every single post on this site, an opinion.

Does anyone besides @Migara rate Sanga as a top 5 bat?
Depends on what you want to treat him as. If he kept wickets, then he would have averaged close to 50. If he never kept he would have averaged low sixties. As a pure bat he is #2. no question about it when some one averages 65. Things get complicated when his keeping is included.

I love Viv and rate him higher than Warne. But i agree with you that it’s close(but Viv is better rounded and unlike Warne in India and WI doesn’t have a big blemish anywhere, had the best short term peak, and amazing record across all 4 innings, domination vs the best bowlers of his era etc, that’s why I vote for him)and I wouldn’t mind it if someone rated Warne above him. With Kallis I admit I’m biased. And also, you’re right that generally there isn’t that big a gap among many of the top tier ATGs. However in someone like Viv vs Sanga, there is a clear gap. So this applies to the top ten or so bats, but there is a clear(not massive)gap between say a Tendulkar/Hobbs and Ponting/Sanga/Kallis.

You’re the one going around calling people horribly wrong and misguided and whinging when people have different opinions from you mate.
And I literally laughed after, I was kidding.

Only you're allowed to do it?

While I agree on that as purely batsmen, I also think Sangakkara being a very good keeper for around 50 matches makes it closer.

Not saying Warne wasn't a great player, arguable top 10 ever.

The great differentiator is where Warne **** the bed vs the best of his era, Viv was at his best.

Warne wasn't the best nor most impactful bowler of his team and took a relatively high amount of tailenders (understandable for a spinner).

Sitting here, I struggle to come up with a reason to rate Warne higher.

Didn't say you couldn't, you obviously do.

With regards to having different views overall, that's bullshit, and I'm quick to say we can agree to disagree, it's some of you who insist I see things your way. I have no desire to change anyone's mind about anything.

But feel free to Trundle on.
