Well as I said in the other thread.

I have Richards in that elite best after Bradman tier, I don't quite have Sunny up there.

Sachin, Sobers, Viv, Hobbs and arguably Smith, Lara and Hutton.

Have Sunny just outside of that group and closer to the guys behind.

Why is Smith arguable? He is clearly the best bat of his era without competition without any major flaw in his record.

To me I put him in the first tier. Strange how CW has soured on him.

I sincerely don't think that people get how special Viv Richards was.

I haven't. I said arguable. If he goes though, so does BCL.

Those two guys are dead even for me.

ridiculous false precision to suit your prejudices

your rationale for why it’s not close? Gavaskar opened and had the higher average and didn’t have to face to the Windies.
I think Viv's away record is a lot better when it comes to batting against ATG pacers, and think Sunny had some visible flaws against pace. btw my vote of it not being close isn't on their output but moreso on their placement in my all time top 25 batters, I've Viv in top 5 and Gavaskar in top 15

Gavaskar.

When I say close, I kind of have Richards in a group with others, but its a group slightly behind Gavaskar.

If I was to vote “not close” in one of these it would need to be

Player A tier/group

Whole other tier/group

Player B
