Failure of management. Even if he had off field issues, there was no effort to rein him in. India acted as if we had 5 great young batsmen waiting in the wings who Kambli was keeping out. Stupid af.

Barry is rated very highly, among the very best by peers.

Kambli was a bit of home conditions bully. I think he might have improved in latter part of his career like most Indian players do but his average was inflated due to home runs also.

Guy's in dire shape atm if a recent Whatsapp vid is anything to go by (though no more than I've been at various times in my storied drinking career). Comfortably on par with Lara, Gower, and Anwar as the most stylish LHB I've seen. It's sad no one was willing to take him aside and be a mentor figure when things started going south. The decline's never been arrested apparently.
