Good point. Also, if we take out his bowling against SL, SA, England, Australia and India in addition to the above, he averages 100 and only has 4 wicketsAs people don't seem to be realising how ****e Vettori's stats are against Test class batting sides:
57 wickets @ 35 against Australia (they play him badly, but nothing special there)
46 wickets @ 14 against Bangladesh - very nice average booster there
45 wickets @ 37 against England
21 @ 55 against India
4 @ 100 against Pakistan
18 @ 70 against SA
41 @ 21 against SL - the only Test quality side he has a good record against
33 @ 26 against WI who were completely rank against any competent spinner
23 @ 31 against Zimbabwe
Take out Bangladesh and he averages 37. If you take out Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and WI then he averages 39 with the ball.
To summarise.Everyone sucks, except one, cause I haven't seen him yet, but I'm sure he sucks.
Pffft, thought he was making pretty good points. Vettori, I'm afraid, quite simply isn't a threat to top-quality batsmen in test matches. He has an excellent record against the tail- in fact 34% of his wickets have come against the tail, compared with 26% for Harris. Even Monty, much-maligned for always getting cheap wickets, is around 32%.Yeah we get it Scaly-NZ have never had a good player in their history, especially if they're compared with some Durham player. Now kindly go down your mine shaft with your scrabble kit and be paranoid about anti-northern bias in the press.
Seriosuly, we'd read your posts more if we hadn't had to listen to the BS that you'd been sprouting last year and before. Thought you'd gotten over it considering you didn't go in for the kill in the Indian thread.
England would kill to have Vettori as a batsman btw. someone to stay with Pietersen long enough.
The best on that list is probably Vettori all up, though Shakib is currently the best. Harris is better than everyone thinks imo and Monty needs to learn some new tricks to keep up with the play.
Yeah he does have good points but with all due respect, you haven't been around long enough to know what he's like about NZ players so the general response to him being negative, even if right is aPffft, thought he was making pretty good points. Vettori's a funny one in that he'll only rarely get out a good player of spin, but very rarely fail to get out a poor one. Don't get me wrong, he's a good bowler, but his lack of turn often makes him quite reliant on the batsman making a mistake.
I think he means they'll always struggle to take it away from the batsman because their natural angle to a RHB means they have to turn it just to make it straighten.Out of interest, how come left armers don't get much turn?
Ftr, I'm definitely not arguing Vettori is amazing (well he is in ODIs) but he's not rubbish. He's solid imo. Always comes away with 2-4 wickets an innings (after he got out of that 200304 ish slump) for not many.
