Auckland bounces back

Auckland rebounded from a shocking defeat to beat Lancashire rather comprehensively in its second VB matchup.

Tudor (1/17) and Plummer (0/18) bowled superbly to restrict the top order and only Z Court (64) batted with any certainty. Weekes (2/15) did a job as the innings closed on 165/6.

Despite Z Court returning to take 3/29, but Godwin (46) and Weekes (48 not out) did the bulk of the scoring. R Briers smashed 26 off 13 balls with 2 massive sixes to finish the game with 2 overs to spare.

Colts Hammer Bulls

Despite strange goings on around the Karnataka team the colts have prodfuced another strong win, knocking off queensland by 8 wickets in just 17 overs.

Hodgson and Hogg were the best of the QLD batting making 36* and 28 respectivley. they were not well enough supported however as Klusener ripped through the middle order taking 4/14 from 5 overs. Daly economy with the ball was again a standour conceding just 7 runs from his 5 overs, also pickin up the key wicket of Hayden.

Despite losing Sharath early we were never trpoubled by the QLD total of 6/114 with Liyanage - 38(31) and Madanagopal - 39*(34) leading the way.

manager age_master said after the game " Another great win for us, we are really looking strong in the VB cup this year and are determined to go all the way"

This measn K Ali has taken 15 wickets in 15 balls. This would never happen ever. I think Bugs or Blewy or whoever should check K Ali's stats, just to make sure there hasn't been an error somewhere along the line. Ali is good fo sho, but not that.

No comment on my win. There is nothing to say.One thing i would like to say is abt the NRR.I think my NRR should be much more that 2.23 if i remember right.Hamp made 5 allout which while calculating is 5 in 25 overs with run rate of 0.2 and i made 10 in 1 over so runrate 10.Now NRR for this game 10-0.2=9.8 If i am wrong then pls correct me.

Yet another win to ND!!

The Northern Knights met the Yorkshire Phoenix in round 2 of the VB Cup. Northern Districts won the game by 89 runs which sees them going to the top of the table in Group 2.

Rookie batsman Oscar Cardew proved once again why he is leading the batting averages for the competition with a supremely skilled display of batting to score 134* off only 81 balls.

Team Manager Eyes_Only said of Cardew "Oscar has proven why we decided to take the risk of not trading him in the draft, despite some very strong offers from other teams and why we put him straight into the team. His 134* was simply magical to watch and bodes well for his future and the future of the team."

In the bowling department, Man Of The Match Zaheer Kahn took an amazing 5/32 from only five overs. He was ablely assisted by Nitini who took 3/25 from three overs to destroy any chance Yorkshire had of winning the game.

Eyes_Only was full of praise for the team, but remains realistic regarding the team's chances for the rest of the competition.

"While I am extremely happy with the way the team is performing, It is only round 2 and we have a long way to go before we win it."

When asked about the team's overall performance, Eyes_Only was guarded in her response.

"Oscar Cardew is having a wonderful start to the season and not surprisingly is leading the batting averages while Kade Weekes is leading the bowling averages.

In the batting averages, newly appointed team captain Stephen Fleming is number 12 on the list while Nathan Hauritz is at number 18.

Bowling wise, Zaheer Kahn is at number 5 on the list of bowling averages while Nitini is at number 10.

The Board and Management of the team are very pleased with the team's start to the season. We are also looking to possibly rest a few players with Douglas Chougdale to make his debut in the next round of the 4 day game." Eyes_Only said.
