Easy to pick holes in most people’s records including Taylor

England were generally poor when he played, best record is against Pakistan and that’s owed to one innings on a road, failed against SA, barely played against India etc

Warner is a better player than Tubby
Taylor did average 39.60 in the West Indies which is a good effort for a Test Opening batsman in that era, as we know the West Indies were very strong back then. If Taylor was opening the batting nowdays then he probably averages high 40s (even averages in the 50 range).

In 16 innings he scored 594 runs, with one century and five half-centuries. So he averaged a 50+ score every 2.6 innings. Again, not bad for the opposition of that period he played against in thier home country.

Look I actually really like Warner, he’s a **** sure, but the kind of **** I kinda like fsr.

But I’m dropping the bloke unless we’re playing in Australia or South Africa, and that’s just not good enough compared to the rest of these guys.
Exactly, Warner averaged 32 away from the comforts of home country (Australia). That's simply not good enough. Big gap between his home record and away record. Again not good enough.

Are you talking about Taylor's Away record or his overall record against Pakistan?

Is Michael Slater a little underrated? I remember going through statsguru and he had a pretty impressive record against the best bowlers during his career.

Slater, very good opening batsman. Probably underrated as you said because we've had a few good Test Opening batsman for Australia come along since he retired.

Not sure to be honest. Both were capable against pace and spin from memory.
Records v WI are why I rate Boon ahead.

And while Boon's worst opponent was Pakistan - he made up for it to some extent with his hundred against them being the best of his career.
