I saw a game that is under developement at cricketgames.com called umpiresim but it seems the site hasn't been updated so if it has been released could you please tell me where i could get it.

If it hasn't been released do you know anybody else working on this type of thing?

If u read the last few updates on the site it tells you that the Cricketgames.com webmaster (Dan Thomas) has started a full time job in Australia as a software developer. He has stated that he does not have much time for the site now. Fully up to date news on cricket games always appears on CricketWeb.net.

Remember many freeware cricket games are never completed by the developer. They do take a very long time to design and code plus the author does not get any kind of financial reward, they do it for their own leisure and the enjoyment of others. However if the author has more important stuff to do i.e. their job, they are unlikely to spend much time producing a freeware game. Authors of freeware games should be praised for their efforts, these games are original, creative and best of all free. They don't have a huge budget to complete this games, only their free moments.

Just think about this before u go asking about updates on games which were started several years ago but never finished.

Hi Straw and welcome to Cricket Web :)

UmpireSim was being written by Phil Carty who simply gave the project up due to studies and also to give all his spare time to his new project County Cricket Manager 2002 (See Here for full details) - He got a full website up and running and the project was looking really really good, the feature list was huge and it had alot of things not seen in many other games like talking to the media and players etc, again though for some reason this project also faded out.

I have no idea if he has plans to finish it off at some stage but alot of people were dissopointed that he did stop it, however he is currently still around on the Cricketgames.com forum and also the forum of another game in development World Cricket Manager that can found via the sub forum near the bottom of our forum index under hosted sites.

It's funny what you come across when you google your name, apologies for the uber-bump :) Didn't even remember I had an account here...

I still have the source of my manager sim sitting on a backup harddrive (it went through three or four name changes), not sure why I kept it since it's horribly outdated but I suppose it's a bit of nostalgia and at the time was a lot of effort. As for the UmpireSim project, that was lost a long time ago, in fact I have little recollection of it. Funny how the years go by.

Maybe one day I'll pick up a project again, graduated last year and now working fulltime (sneaking a little minute break right now ;)) so time is spare. But I still code (just happens for a living now) and I still love the sport of Cricket.

Now to see how many (if any) usernames I recognise around here, shame CricketGames.com seems to be dead...that was great back in the day.

Don't think Dan has updated that website since last year.

It's got Cricket Coaches original staff work, CCM2002, and World Cricket 1998.
