For mr: Bring back the VB Cup,but rename it

Blewy - I thought that discussion on the VB Cup had been thrashed to death with the majority seeming to prefer a 50 over per side knockout.

At this stage thats what its looking like it will be Graham, just looking to see if there were any new ideas which had come to mind...

Also how we run it is still to be decided, I was thinking maybe have 10 seeds, and seeing as though 30 isn't an even number to have a KO, maybe have a playoff for the academy sides and allow 2 of them to qualify making 32...

I'll much prefer the VB Cup being 20/20 than the the 50 over idea suggested, just seems pointless with the league being 50 overs as well, whereas 20/20 offers something different.

Just remember that a 20/20 competition would need to be run using VCM4 and that the reason that this season's competition was canned was due to the ridiculous results generated using that sim engine.
From my understanding the new sim will not support a shorter format.

This would be an ideal format, however to do such a thing we would need a seperate sim, as none of the Sims available can perform such a task...

any kind of knock out will do, as long as there are no seedings.

It'd be difficult to have a straight knock-out with 30 - IIRC the first few Knock-outs had seedings based on previous performances (much like the FA Cup I guess) and ran pretty smoothly.

sure in the FA Cup the Premier League sides are given passage through to the third round or something, but other than that the draw is still random (i think). I think the draw should be made random as it give lower sides the chance to progress far. Seeds would take such an opportunity away. I also think it should stay at the mid week slot. The problem this season was that it was made too big and kind of stupid. The knockout system is the way to go for sure.

Something that I reckon that needs to be changed is the rain thing. Yes I am saying this because my side is Warwickshire and we have high odds of rain. However, I reckon that after all the things WCC does to make WCC as fair as possible this is a step in the wrong direction. It gives certain teams an unfair advantage over others. I was told by some pro weather it has to be the way it is to make it realistic, but isn't rain realism enough? I think so and I think all sides should get the same odds of rain regardless if they are from Australia, India or England...

the main reason ridiculas results happened is because of a data entry error, ths Sim wasn't that bad for the 25 over games.

i dont think a 50 over per side competition other than the league would be worthwhile...


if it were to be the same as a league format the other option would be a knockout of 4d games....

By seedings I did mean progressive entry of sides into various rounds - not a seeded draw.

OK, Age VC4 didn't like the 25 over games at all. it wasn't just cause of the entry error, i mean teams were getting bowled out for 30 quite regular.

As for the Rain nibbs, people want this game as realistic as possible but when something goes against them they don't want it..
Personally i think the rain is much better the way it is and i don't think it needs changing....

As for the KO im not really sure, i said from the start that i preffered to have the KO different length from the leagues ie. not 50 ovs, But the majority seem like thats what they want. unless another idea comes up or someone can find a sim which does 20/20 or similar then i think we will be having the 50 over a side KO.....

Being an academy manager, I support the knockout's for us to make a round of 32. Think C&G trophy!

Yeah like:
Round 1:

Academy 1 vs Academy 4
Academy 2 vs Academy 3

Then Div.5-Div.1 teams in Random Draw to the final.
