William Black Signs For Hampshire!

Young Youth Player, William Black has signed for Hampshire Cricket Club. The Club apparently spent $20,000 to lure him away from bigger clubs. Black said he was happy to sign for Hampshire, where he played youth cricket. The 20-year old said that he hoped to get some 1st Team experiance this year. Newly appointed coach, Tom Smith refused to comment.

(Feedback welcome. Note I am not concentrating on Hampshire but on William Black.)

well a 2nd team average of 53 aint all that great, ive had players average 90+
90+ 2nd averages is quite rare (without redoing the contracts screen). I find a batsmen with 50+ can turn out to have an fc average between 45 and 55 which is good enough for me. :saint: Ferd: Give him a good run before giving up on him.

Hampshire Fall three short as Francis hits 161!

Hampshire have fallen only 3 runs short of Surrey's total in Today's Super Cup Match.

Batting first Surrey's opening pair hit 141 runs before Stewart fell for 72 (off 70). Butcher and Ramprakash then combine to add a further 112 runs to the board before Butcher (89) was caught in the slips by Francis off the bowling of Hamblin. Ramprakash finally fell for 92 off only 79 balls. Thorpe (43*) and Brown (8*) were unbeaten after the 50 overs. Surrey finished on 3-314.

Hampshire's opening pair started quickly again before Shah fell for 11. Then Black and John Francis posted 58 before Black was run out for 44 (off 46). Benham (0), Prittipaul (1) and Brunnschweiler (0) fell in quick sucsession and when Kenway fell for 21, Francis looked Hampshire's only hope. Hamblin witnessed Francis bring up his first hundred in one day cricket before departing for 2. Francis and Tomlinson put on 33 quick runs but Tomlinson (8) was given out lbw destroying his chances of seeing Hampshire home. Next to the crease was 23 year old James Schofield. Schofield and Francis brought Hampshire within 100 runs of the total before disaster struck. Francis was given out caught and bowled Giddins to a clear no-ball. But all was not lost as Tremlett and Schofield hit 48 before Tremlett was bowled by Giddins in the 48th over. Only three runs short of victory against a team which boasts 5 English ODI regulars. Well Done HAMPSHIRE!

Hampshire defeat Essex in thriller!

Hampshire have deafeated Essex in today's Super Cup match.

Hampshire's Captain Lawerence Prittipaul elected to bowl first on a good-looking pitch. Prittpaul was almost instantly rewarded with the wicket of John Stephenson for only 3. Darren Robinson and Zimbabwian Andy Flower then tried to right the ship but Robinson could only manage 26 before chopping the ball onto his stumps. Habib (16) and Hussain (7) did not hang around long, both dismissed by the on-fire Tomlinson. As Ronald Irani stroad to the crease Essex where in trouble on 4-99. Then Irani and Flower started to hit out in a partnership of 155 before Andy Flower on 107 was caught behind with only 5 balls to go in the innings. Irani finshed on 95* and new-comer Dakin on 11*. Essex finshed on 5-268 with James Tomlinson getting 3-41 off his 10 overs while Irfan Shah let through only 26 runs off his 10 overs.

Hampshire's opening pair, William Black and Irfan Shah set off at a cracking pace putting together 63 before Shah was dismissed in the 11th over. John Francis and Black continued with the job before Francis was caught at bat pad. Derek Kenway failed in the top order again departing woth only 5 to his name. The captain Prittipaul(26) witnessed Black's 2nd century in 4 games before being adjuded lbw. Hampshire then suffered a mini collapse with Benham(4), Black(110)and Brunnschweller(8) departing within a couple of overs. But at this stage Hampshire were at 7-238 and almost home. Stout batting from Hamblin(11), Tomlinson(15*) and Schofield(7*) brought Hampshire to victory in the 45th over. Man of the Match was William Black(110) but notable mentions must also go out to James Tomlinson(15*,3-41 off 10) and Irfan Shah(37, 0-26 off 10). Hampshire must win the next match to keep their final hopes alive...
