The mod team needs to be reviewed

This post has nothing to do with recent activities but what pops in my mind quite often. Being a mod is not easy and it’s thankless job but we have people here modding whom we don’t even see for once or maybe once in a decade. It does not matter if someone is qualified enough with things like technical issues but if he/she does not chime in for once ffs, what’s the point for keeping them in mod team. As the 20th anniversary for CW is nearing, it’s high time that the mod team is reviewed. This being said, I can’t thank enough everyone who is trying their best to keep this place fun for us all.

Why don't we all do it.

Mandatory public reviews of the Mod's, to be made on a 6-month basis, which will then be archived for future generations to look back on.

Moderating is at it's peak tbh. Ever since Watson/Blocky left they've been quite good.

Could argue that they're in the easiest era for moderation though. Not sure if they'd have been able to tame the posters from the pre-infraction system days with limited tools at their disposal.

Blocky was a peoples action tbf. I remember the mods telling us off for continuing to counter troll him and basically all of NZ CW, even people as polite as Ed, roundly ignored the mods.

The writing was on the wall then. The government had to string him up or look impotent.

Any poster who is away for more than a few months should have their mod access revoked, even if temporarily. You can’t moderate a forum like this if you’re dipping in and out, because it changes. So aside from my core demands, which are well known, I genuinely think Fusion and Dan shouldn’t be mods. They don’t post enough to warrant it. And I don’t care if they post in the mod forum, they don’t post in the main one enough to be able to effectively moderate it. If Cabinet is still a mod then same goes for him, and orthdox and Matt79 too.

Beyond that I don’t really care but without singling Fusion out I still remember him rocking up during the 2019 WC and dishing a warning out, you can't just turn up and act like you’ve never been away and expect to hold that authority. It weakens moderation as a whole.

So clean them out and then if you need new ones do it the old fashioned way, ask people to apply.

A good mod you don't really notice is a mod. Most of the current active crop are okay. Fusion is a truly dire humourless look at me type who posts childish warnings on the forum instead of a quick private word. James is a bit odd, but I guess you have to be to own this forum in the first place. :tooth: Furball was probably the most unique. :tooth: A lot of names that get mentioned I don't even know who they are.
Whoever closed the thread in my signature is the all time plank who you wouldn't trust to make a jelly. :tooth:

haha, it was that pakistani kid who came in just after the world cup theft to troll nz because net run rate. fusion wagged his finger at the lad and was roundly ignored.

the forum was probably fortunate i was drunk at the maccas drive through asking for a world cup with work in a couple of hours and half of nz was probably in a similar state.

every time we go through the hamilton east maccas drive through with the same boys someone always brings that morning up and gets shouted down.

maccas > fusions moderating

I for one think the mods are far too harsh on the peaceful drafting community. They've corralled us into a separate subforum and don't allow us out of there anymore. I'm constantly fearful of a ban if I don't draft well enough. Feel their eyes on me constantly watching. I have a phobia that mods are always there!

Have you ever been alone at night, thought you heard footsteps behind, and turned around and no one's there? And as you quicken up your pace, you find it hard to look again, because you're sure there's someone there!
