Surrey in the C&G 4th Round

Surrey at the Oval is about as hard as it comes. Are Somerset capable of beating Surrey on ther own patch after doing so at home in memorable style a few years back. That was some match and I remember the atmosphere was fantastic.

If we can get a few wins under our belts in the meantime, I don't personally see why not. Though we'll have to raise our game several notches, we can beat anyone on our day if the players are in the right frame of mind.

Trescothick was simply world class against Scotland. True, the bowling wasn't superb but you can only play what you're given and 103 from 70 balls is akin to the likes of Afridi or Kluesener at their clubbing best...

Repeat performance on Friday please fellas....

Everybody else.......

.............(including most significantly the ECB) seems to think it's Surrey at Taunton in round four.

We'll still need at least a couple of morale-boosting wins before we take them on, though!

Well it's going to be a top match hopfully!

But I think it's to hard to call until the ECB let you know who's playing in the match, afterall the 4th round of the C&G is slap bang in the middle of two Tests between Zim, which the first ends a day (I think) before the 4th Round.

And just the ECB hand picking who gets to plays and in what matches this season, meaning you could see the complete Surrey outfit turn up while Tresco and Caddick have to sit out!

Fourth Round

There's a day clear after the end of the first test against Zim, and a full week clear before the start of the second, so hopefully this won't happen.

I'd always been led to believe that unless a player was actually injured, ECB policy was to make contracted players available for C+G Ties.

Apologies

Why on earth I thought the tie was at the Oval I don't know but I'd already agreed to meet friends in London so I was obviously convinced. There should be Somerset pressure for both our lads to play as its a massive game for us. Playing at Taunton could suit us with a vocal home support to rely on. Its a game I have to get to....

I think the ECB did say all players are available for (otherwise England players would have no games at the International standard except ODIs)
