Stats question

Hi

I'm doing some research and need to get hold of some innings by innings stats for well over 200 batsmen in tests. The resulting dataset will be pretty big. Is there a dB out there I can query for free? Cricinfo does have what I need but I can't see a way to get all the data in one go and I'd prefer not to have to run 200 queries separately and collate all the data from web pages.

Thx

Thanks - but the trouble with cricsheet is, so far as I can tell, you can't get an innings by innings list from it. Have you found one? I know you can get ball by ball (from where it could be aggregated to inns by inns) since about 2005 but I need to go back way before that.

The cricinfo query tool is pretty advanced and looks like it will give what's required - but the results are delivered in web pages. Do you know if there's a way to download results (e.g. as csv) from cricinfo?

Easiest way would be to run a Python script on the Cricinfo results to scrape the data and turn it into a csv.

A quick Google search brings this up but it's from 5 years ago:

I remember @srbhkshk grabbing a bunch of data from cricinfo (I think) with some sort of script when DoG made that 5 year/40 innings peak thread. Unsure if something like that could help.

I mean it shouldn't really be difficult, I could probably whip something up if you gave me enough time, but more importantly, enough money.

Yeah fair. I’m no coder but the amount of people wanting free stuff based on specialised skills on the internet is rising astronomically every year it seems.
