Standout player So far this season??

Blewy

Well on top of Rich's Team of the season so far thread i thought i'd do a standout player so far....

Who is the player that has stood out in your eyes so far this season, doesn't have to be from your side, but you could have a player from your team and one from the WCC as a whole.....

Well, certainly not #1 draft pick E.Howarth. He hasn't had the consistency nor the run accumulation that I would have liked. That said, he has played some important innings.

not being bias to my team but hooper has averages of 222 and 68 thats not too shabby
in the four dayers he has scored the most runs of anyone in div 1 batting at 5

my vote for c hooper

My Batsman S Maxwell has 595 runs @99 in 4d including a double century and a 180. IN 1d he averages 65 with a top score of 129.
so my vote goes to him.
Elliott has had a good season for Victoria too.

Sriram has been an inspiration for Warwickshire in the 4 dayers. 574 runs, so far this season in just 6 innings. This includes a WCC 4 day record of 270, and 149 plus a couple of 50s.

Blewett has been great this season relative to his past 2 ones, so I'm pleased with him, and Wilkes in the middle order is a fine rookie.

i guess its not really a surprise that everyone is choosing players from their own team, cause after all thats all everyone really takes notice of.

dont think there really has been a standout player thus far this year, cartainley no players in the divisions im in have particularly stood out, except maybe Shaw in my team, a bowler who is doing better with the bat than the ball :(

i think my young rookie ferguson, who is leading the one day bowling average, when its his first year on the scene, is a good effort.

there are alot of good players but not 1 players is dominating, but i do agree with c hooper. he is in fine form.

its good to see players dominating other than bevan and lehman

I refuse to be like any of you and mention any of my own players!

I think M Jayawardene 551 runs @ 137.75 is rather handy (damn! his a Kent player)

But really I've picked my best Bat and Bowl from each division :)

ONE DAY

Div 1 - M Goodwin (however 3 NO's have inflated his avg alot - Bat) - H Axelby (Bowl)

Div 2 - You all picked Hooper but a guy with 50 more runs, 2 less NO's but he does open C Richards (Bat) - D Ferguson (Bowl)

Div 3 - F Iqbal (Bat) - A Jones (Bowl)

Div 4 - No Avg's

Div 5 - M Dawn (Bat - 3 50's out of 4 inngs can't be bad) - M Ramage (Bowl - Just for that freak inngs of 9/7 he has taken wickets and ecomical as well)

FOUR DAY

Div 1 - D.Lehmann (Bat) - W Younis (35 wkts is insane!) (Bowl)

Div 2 - M Jayawardene 551 runs @ 137.75 (Bat) - T Hawkins 26 wkts @ 15.75

Div 3 - S.Sriram (Bat) - No Stats for bowlers so can't be bothered to go hunting :P

Div 4 - W Anderson / M Elliott (too close to call) - O Clarke (Bowl) My My Canterbury have a good bowling attack :O - 56 wickets between the strike bolwers

Div 5 - S Maxwell is in a leauge of his own (Bat) - Not sure when the bowling was last updated, doesn't seem enough overs in there, but M Ramage is leading the way (Bowl)

i was surprised that u gave the div 5 1d choice to Dawn. i thought hes been pretty disapointing. not a ton yet which isnt good enough for someone of his ability.
But i guess its been hard to do much with a guy like maxwell there.

S Maxwell - 4 Matches, 3 Innings, 197 Runs, HS 129, 1 x 100, Avg 65

Compared to

M Dawn - 4 Matches, 4 Innings, 224 Runs, HS 88, 3 x 50, Avg 56

IMO Maxwell stats are basically that one innings of 129 whereas Dawn has scored more and more consistant and 3 50's to boot is far more impressive IMO
