Spin Allrounders vs Pace Allrounders

Shady Slim

International Coach
a team of allrounder spinners vs a team of allrounder pacers, had to have played after 2010, keeper negligible. who wins?

some of the more probable players for either side include shakib and dilshan for the spinners and twatto (stupid filter got me on *****on) and corianderson for the pacers

Where the hell is Stuart ****ing Binny?? And KW in the spinner's side. Watching TPC and him bat together would be sublime.

counting smith as a spinning all rounder would be like counting KP as one

when compared to say a moeen or a vettori who regularly got ten overs during the world cup you can't call him an all rounder, more just a batsman with the attribute of "can bowl"

Picking guys who are eligible for international cricket now, so no Kallis. Bring him in for Sarkar if you wish.

If Smith doesn't count, who replaces him? KW, who's equally occasional a bowler? Afridi?

Shady Slim

yeah afridi is the go and especially for LO

depending on if you consider samuels an all rounder he could go there too

sammy out for philander if you consider him a test allrounder, marmalade out for afridi if you don't consider him a test allrounder

Williamson for Hafeez.
Pace all rounders to win. Their bowling is potent.

Really? The only pace all rounder I would rate purely for their bowling in Odis is Mathews and Faulkner and I wouldn't call them anywhere near potent. At least the spinners have shakib and vettori. Also maxwell as the ultimate jammy wicket taker.

Thread highlights what little there is of allrounders in Tests.

Think the spinner XI would do okay in a one-dayer but lack an attack with teeth in a test match.

something else to consider

over rates

theoretically if the pace XI batted out a day and the spin XI batted out a day on the same run rate then the pace XI would have a far more sizeable total

good point

with all the players in the team actually able to bowl, if one of your spinners was going all Moeen vs NZ then you could just put him off for one of nine other spinners

how does the icc classify dale steyn and tim southee as all rounder

bowlers in the can bat territory are not automatically allrounders

Their bowling is so good that it gains them points, and their batting is sufficiently competent to keep them in there with an absence of actual all-rounders.

Weldone correct; Ashwin for Smith.
