Why the hell didn't they do this about 6 weeks ago before the men they have just sacked picked the squads to tour Sri Lanka?

Not like there wasn't a long enough gap after the ashes before this series started to get the report done was there.

It must be one hell of an atmosphere atm in Sri Lanka, with Nielsen and also apparently Greg Chappell is the on-duty selector!

Because it is easier to have the outgoing management make some tough decisions, perhaps?

To summarise what Chappelli just said about the Argus review - I haven't read it, but the whole thing is basically rubbish.

Should have been done about a decade ago. Its too bad they got complacent while they were the top team in the world and failed to realize the kind of ridiculousness that was going on with their selection panel.

My favourite extract thus far:

The evidence from the Ashes and other recent series is that our basic cricket skills are lacking in key areas, in particular:

For batting; batting for long periods; batting against the moving ball; our approach to playing spin; general batting technique in some instances

For bowling; building pressure; bowling to an agreed plan; spin bowling and captaincy of spin bowling; swing bowling, including generating reverse swing.

For fielding; overall fielding, especially catching

General athleticism; this has extra significance as in the panel's view fielding standards reflect the attitude and professionalism of the team.

For our overall approach; Building batting and bowling partnerships; General game sense/match awareness and cricket expertise, including the ability to problem-solve during the course of a match

Delete the bit about reverse swing and that's my season's planning for an U11 side...
