Kallis also has 2x the number of games of Sobers here, and maintains this great record over a much longer sample space.

Ofc he is, never would deny that. But the comparison here is only in their respective home countries.Sobers is also > Kallis in batting away from home, by a good chunk
The bowling load point is absolutely true. However, when Gibbs/Hall played they were the best bowlers. When they didn't, Sobers had to take the load and was outperforming other's, but they weren't really Donald Pollock Steyn or even Philander Morkel level, none of the two would outbowl these guys over a period of time.Sobers was a genuine, leading bowler for WI over a good chunk. In fact, it won't be wrong to say he was at times their best and leading bowler. Kallis never took that bowling load.
If you say so.Sobers is also > Kallis in batting away from home, by a good chunk
Kallis did played his fair share of minnows at home though. Sobers ofcourse played India, but we actually won a series there (Sobers was berserk there as well). I would say the batting is VERY debatable between them, especially since Kallis's home record vs Australia is really poor. Bowling not so much, which like everyone agrees. The bowling load point is absolutely true. However, when Gibbs/Hall played they were the best bowlers. The bowling load point, and being the better bowler point holds. But Kallis is the better batter imo in this comparison and has 2x the number of games, which is why I edge this towards him.
only at home rightKallis did played his fair share of minnows at home though. Sobers ofcourse played India, but we actually won a series there (Sobers was berserk there as well). I would say the batting is VERY debatable between them. Bowling not so much, which like everyone agrees.
Ofcourse. And looking deeper, I actually think Sobers wins at Home as well fairly.only at home right
I get your point, but given they played more or less equal years (Sobers slightly longer), shouldn't be a big issue.Kallis also has 2x the number of games of Sobers here, and maintains this great record over a much longer sample space.
Yeah the minnow point is quite true actually. It's making me reconsider this.Kallis did played his fair share of minnows at home though. Kallis against Post-Walsh Windies: 1604 @ 100.25, 7 tons in 23 innings.Yeah I'm switching. Kallis' home batting record is actually a lot of Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, WI and hapless India bashing while failing against Aus and Murali.
